Title: Research and Program Support intern
Hours: 10-15 hours per week (Feb. 1-May 1). Dates flexible for quarter or semester academic calendar.

The Seattle International Foundation is recruiting a part-time, unpaid intern to support grant making activities in the US and Latin America as well as conducting research for the Program Officer and Executive Director.  SeaIF’s regional focus is Central America and SeaIF’s investment areas are:
·         Women’s and youth leadership development and capacity building;
·         Micro-finance;
·         Public policy and advocacy;
·         Human rights.

·         Assist Executive Director and Program Officer in processing
grant applications, conducting research regarding potential grantees and
assisting in the evaluation process of past grantees
·         Assist with US-based initiatives, including the small grants
program to support the international work of Washington non-profits
·         Assist with Central American-based initiatives including
researching organizations with a mission relevant to SeaIF’s strategy
·         Assist Program Officer in developing and carrying out an
effective social media and communication strategy

Skills Required:
·         Knowledge of Latin America, particularly Central America, and
the Spanish language a plus
·         Strong communications skills, especially producing
professional reports and concisely summarizing research assignments
·         Excellent research skills
·         Experience in international development- direct experience in
SeaIF’s investment areas a plus
·         Experience with grant making and the nature of foundation work
a plus
·         Enthusiastic and shows initiative in advancing the mission of
the Foundation
·         Facility with computer programs, including Microsoft Office
programs, database
experience preferred, Adobe Contribute and social media tools
·         Completed Bachelor’s degree, or current undergraduate or
graduate student, in international studies, business, development, or a
related field
