These highly-competitive, full-cost scholarships are available to citizens of countries outside of the UK to undertake a postgraduate degree in any subject at the University of Cambridge. Sam Sudar attended St. John College, Cambridge as a Gates Scholars earning a Masters of Philosophy in Neurobiology. Sudar is a second year PhD UW student in Computer Science working on brain interfaces and technology for the developing world.
Michael Duyzend attended Girton College, Cambridge as a Gates Scholar earning a Masters of Philosophy in Computational Biology. Duyzend is a second year MD/PhD UW student working with whole genome sequencing data to better understand the genetic underpinnings of autism.

Be a citizen of any country outside of the United Kingdom.
Applications open 1 September, for entry in October 2014. Scholarship deadlines are:
Round 1 – US citizens based in the USA – 15 October 2013
Round 2 – all other citizen of any country outside the UK and USA – 4 December 2013
