Love what you’re learning in Sociology and thinking about a career that helps others and uses this information? Check out the School of Social Work, which will prepare you for one of the fastest-growing careers in the country! In 2012, U.S. News and World Report ranked the UW School of Social Work No. 3 among the nation’s nearly 220 advanced social work degree programs.
Every year, they enroll about 600 students and graduate about 250 students. As social work professionals, their graduates become educators and leaders–strengthening communities and supporting vulnerable families in Washington State and beyond.
Our MSW program prepares graduates for social work careers within a broad range of professional settings–from direct service with individuals and families to policy analysis and organizational leadership. They also offer concurrent degrees with the schools of public health and public affairs.
Students may register for upcoming information sessions by visiting the School of Social Work admissions web page.

Effective autumn 2014, the human biology requirement is being incorporated into the first-year MSW foundation coursework. Students who are entering autumn 2014 are no longer required to provide proof of completion of a human biology course outside of the MSW program.
Completion of the statistics requirement is still required for all newly admitted students in order to take Soc W 506. This is not an admissions requirement nor is it factored in the admission decision. Students who are admitted into the program must submit official transcripts AND complete the review form in order to have the statistics requirement reviewed.
