BICKNELL FUND FOR ACADEMIC TRAVEL 2014
The Bicknell Fund, established by Professor Emeritus Daniel C. Waugh and Dr. Charlotte Waugh and administered by the History Department, is designed to benefit undergraduate students’ travel to Europe, Asia, and Northern Africa. Preference will be given, first, to applicants with a demonstrated interest in Russia, Eastern Europe, Central Asia, the Middle East, or the Baltic region; second, to applicants who have not previously traveled in Europe, Asia, or Northern Africa; and third, on the basis of how the applicants propose to use the funding. Awards will be made primarily based on merit. “Academic travel” denotes in particular the participation in an organized language or study program, although independent study may be eligible for support. Upon return, the student will be required to provide documentation on their course of study, as well as a short (1-3 page) description of their experience.
