Congressman John Lewis
February 23rd at Meany Hall, 10:30 AM
Join us for a discussion with U.S. Representative John Lewis, co-author Andrew Aydin and artist Nate Powell on the graphic novel series “March.”
John Lewis is Georgia’s Fifth Congressional District Representative and an American icon, widely known for his role in the Civil Rights movement. The three volumes of “March” capture the events in Mr. Lewis’s life: organizing sit-ins to protest the segregation of lunch counters in Nashville; joining the Freedom Riders to test the Supreme Court decision that outlawed bus segregation; and taking part in the 1963 March on Washington, of which he is the sole surviving speaker.
Please note that at the request of Rep. Lewis, event registration and seating is prioritized for students.
