Call for submissions: The Promise: Undergraduate Research Journal at Monmouth University

*Currently accepting submissions for the Spring 2018 inaugural issue

The Promise is an open access, interdisciplinary undergraduate research journal that showcases research through a sociological lens. Inspired by classical sociological theorist, C. Wright Mills, The Promise believes in the power of knowledge to solve social problems. We are accepting submissions from any discipline, but each submission must incorporate a sociological theory.

We accept submissions on a rolling basis, so please submit in a timely manner. If all spots have been filled for the upcoming edition we will notify you that your work may be considered for the next edition, which will be published the following semester.

Editorial Review Process

Once submitted to the editor, each article submission will go through a double blind review process, reviewed by two undergraduate students. Each submission has all identifying information removed in order to ensure anonymity and avoid bias. After the reviewers have provided their feedback the editor will make the final decision on whether to accept, accept with changes, or reject a paper. The length of this process will vary because submissions are received on a rolling bases.

If your article is accepted, you will receive an editorial review that may request changes to be made as editors see to be necessary. Authors must complete these changes in three weeks from the time they are returned, or the offered spot in the edition will be forfeited. This process will be repeated as necessary to meet publication standards.

Once final rounds of edits are completed the author of an accepted work will receive a contract to publish the article that must be returned the same week as offered.
