Welcome, Sociology family, to Winter Quarter 2019! We may have been robbed of snow this year (there’s still time!! fingers crossed!), but the weather has still found ways to remind us it’s winter (anyone else in the market for an industrial space heater?).
Here in the Sociology Advising Office, the lights are back on, students are passing by, and it’s beginning to feel a lot like, well, normal life! Here are a few of the things we want to bring to your attention to start the quarter:
- New Major Applications. Applications to join the BEST department on campus as a major are due THIS FRIDAY AT 4pm. If you intend to apply to become a Sociology major, make sure you drop off your application in the Advising Office (Savery 203) before heading to your Friday parties!
- Honors Program Applications. BIG CHANGE! Honors Program applications will be due in early Spring Quarter, NOT in June like in previous years. We will be posting more about the Sociology Honors program (including application deadlines and info sessions) soon, but we wanted to bring this change to your attention as early as possible!
- January Featured Graduate. We will be continuing our monthly featured graduate post this month, so stayed tuned! If you haven’t had the chance to read about our other featured graduates, take some time to meet Maggie and Jeff!
- Bonderman Fellowship. Applications for the Bonderman Fellowship, which provides students with funds for a year of solo travel around the world, is NEXT MONDAY AT 12pm. I will post more information about the fellowship tomorrow (09 January), but if you’d like to know more now, please visit http://bonderman.uw.edu/
As always, make sure to check this blog throughout the quarter – I’m personally guaranteeing fresh content every week (and more than a few corny puns), so you don’t want to miss it!
Good luck this quarter!
