The Sociology Writing Center is now online! This quarter we are offering Zoom meetings, Google Doc meetings, or email consultations.
- Zoom Meetings – Schedule a time for a 30-minute meeting to discuss your paper and any obstacles you’re experiencing. We can also do screen share so we can both look at your paper at the same time. This type of meeting is great if you’d like to brainstorm ideas, discuss the assignment requirements, or have a complicated problem to work through.
- Google Doc Meetings – If you use Google Docs, we can work on editing your paper together. Using editing mode, comments, and the in-app chat feature we can discuss your questions and my recommendations in real time during your scheduled appointment slot. Google Doc meetings are good if you’d like to work on structure/organization, sentence-level corrections, and citations/reference lists.
- Email Consultations – This meeting isn’t really much of a meeting, but you’ll still get feedback on your work! Send your paper to the writing center and Lindsey will review your work, leave tracked changes and comments, and provide summary thoughts on ways to move forward in the return email. She can also clarify questions you may have over email afterwards too. Email consultations are useful for most questions, however some forms of feedback (for things like brainstorming) will be limited.
The Center is open for appointments 9:00am – 2:00pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We’re also hosting drop-in hours from 12:00pm – 2:00pm on Thursday afternoons for quick questions or to chat about your writing.
